i am going to evaluate my double page spread draft and i am going to explain why i have layed out the double page spread the way it is.

the first page of my double page spread is the one on the right hand side and i chose to do it this way because there are alot of magazines double page spreads that are layed out like this with the whole picture layed out on the whole page and writing over it.

my picture has been layed out like this so it shows that what is written on the page is about the picture and so there for the magazine audience would know strait away what this is going to be about. and also i have layed out the picture like this because when i did my audience questionnaires, the majority of the audience what the picture lay outs to be like this.

furthermore on my draft i for gto to include the title but the title would be bald so that the audience can see what this page of the magazine would be about.

moving on, for my writing i have written it as a interveiw because when i did my questionnaires the majority of the audience wanted to read interviews rather than fact files on the thing.

my second page of the double page spread is going to have the lay out like the one above. i wanted to write about the X factor, the finalists and so therefore i wanted three big images of the finalists right on top of the page so that when the audience look at the that page the first thing they would see is the three finalists so therefore, the audience would know what this page is about. then i want a picture of evry one to gether so paople would understand what i am writing about even more.

furthermore i dont really want much writing on this page because i want this page to be like those magazine pages that have no writing on but have a overview of what is going to be on the next page. lastly the colour sceme of this page would be the colour sceme of the X factor that is red and black.

this is my contents page that i planned out, this contents page is planned and layed out in this way because, i have seen many music content pages layed out in this way, so therefore i have layed mine out to be like them and for my contents page to look more realistic.

analysis of double page magazine spread

i am going to analyse double page spreads of different magazines, this magazine double page spread is from the magazine called 'hip hop'.

hip hop

this magazine double page spread uses pop and R&B stars on the page, even though it does not use vibrant colours people still want to read it because the information is what matters and also because they have such a star on the cover, people would want to read it any way. the layout is very good because the writing is spread around the actual star which makes the star the main thing on the page. the colours of the double page spread are colour co ordinated because it goes with the contents page. also in information on the second page has the colour scheme which is quiet similar to the first page it is also very similar because yet again the pictures stand out and they let the people know what the magazine is talking about.

the magazine also very interesting and so therefore, people would buy a hip hop magazine again because they liked this one.

analysis of contents page. (research)

i am going to analyse these two content pages from two different magazine content pages, they are called 'Vibe' and 'hip hop' they are both pop and R&B music magazine content pages. the first one i will analyse is the magazine 'Vibe'.

Vibe

this contents page is from the magazine vibe, it is not that colourful but it uses the colour scheme that was used for the actual magazine front cover of vibe that can be seen analysed in my first part of research.

the colour grey represents some thing personal and some thing sad, it also represents what the magazine is about.

furthermore i know this is a pop and R&B magazine contents page because it has rappers and pop and R&B stars on them. they also have the contents page very simple and plain which tells us that this magazine doesn't need a lot to tell us the main points and every thing we need to know.

lastly i can use this contents page to help me with my contents page because it has all the essentials and is done by professionals therefore it knows what is the right thing.

hip hop

this magazine contents page is from the magazine called hip hop. it is a pop and R&B music magazine contents page. it is very colourful. it is colour co ordinated even though most colours are not repeated, all the colours are very similar and go well together.

furthermore i know this a pop and R&B magazine contents page because it lists all the pop and R&B stars on the page and also has a pop and R&B star right in the middle to make it bald. when they put this star right in the middle, they make the readers want to read more because he such a big star and so many people want to read about him.

and lastly i would use this contents page to help me with my contents page because it is so good and has so much ideas, that can really help me with my contents page.

analysis of r&b front covers (research)

For this part of the blog, i had to research on magazines on the genre that i was going to do my course work on. and my genre is pop and R&B.

vibe

The first magazine that i am going to analyse is 'vibe', this is a R&B and pop magazine which uses various colours for the front covers, it is all part of a colour scheme; it uses red, black and white, these colours go with the colour scheme. each colour suits each thing. for example: every thing is in black and white, even T.I (the celebrity used on the front cover) on a plain white back ground, , it uses the colour red on top of those colours, and red is a colour that really stands out in contrast of the other colours, the magazine does that because they want the title to stand out and and they wants the things that are in red to stand out and these things are also very eye catching and they make people want to buy the magazine. The title is in red and stands out and is eye catching, therefore people will remember the title and will buy another issue of this magazine. even though the magazine only has three colours, it still is very vibrant and eye catching.
there is only one person right in the middle of the page and that is T.I, who is a well known singer/music artist and every one likes T.I. so putting him in the middle of the page and on the front cover will make a person buy the magazine because every one likes him. there is also a close up shot of T.I and therefore you can see his facial expression which suggests that there is something serious about him and some thing personal, we also know this because it says in red "ain't no such thing as a secret snitch". this quotation suggests that they want the readers to read the actual article. there are also less strap lines because the magazine wants to outline one specific thing and that is T.I story so therefore every thing on the magazine front cover is connected. also giving a really good and interesting quotation from the magazine would want to make the people want to read on and make people want to buy the magazine because they would want to read on more. and lastly the title 'vibe' is bald and bright red so therefore it makes a person want to buy it. the target audience is the teenage audience, a audience from 15 - 20 years of age.

rolling stones

rolling stones is a pop and R&B magazine. the magazine is very vibrant and colourful, even though it only uses 3 colours it very eye catching. bald colours are used on a white background, like the titles in red and yellow, they really stand out and they are really eye catching so it makes the audience want to buy the magazine. also the name of the magazine rolling stones is behind the heads of the boy bad, this is structured like this because, this is well known magazine so therefore people all ready know that the magazine is called without looking at the title in full.

furthermore the layout of the magazine is very important, there is a boy band in the middle of the magazine page and they are called 'Jonas brothers' and are very well known because they not only singers but are also Disney channel's stars. also a lot of girls really like them so therefore this magazine would sell really well because a lot of girls would buy this magazine.

there are also a lot of srap lines on the magazine so therefore that tells us that there is a lot of information in the magazine so therefore people would want to buy it because there would be a good value. also every thing is squashed together, telling people that there is a lot in it. every thing is in capitals that suggests that everything is important, because capital letters symbolises importance. also by the writing being in bald really makes the writing stand out and so it catches the peoples' eye.

over all, i would use these magazines to help me because they are professionaly made and thay do give good examples, for exasmple how to make it eye catching and what kind of pictures and people apeal to the audience.

evaluation of my school magazine front cover

i am going to evealuate my school magazine that i did as a practice. we had to do a magazine that showed people what the school is about. my school magazine was based on the school over all and all the good qualities.

on the school magazine i have colour co - ordinated every thing to be blue, white and black. because the back ground is more dark i have put on white writing in top.

overall i have chosen a picture of a class who is doing their work to show how good the students work and how the school up holds it.

i used this colour scheme because it is the lordswood colours and because it is the lordsood magazine, i thought it would look good, it is also makes it very eye catching.

furthermore i have added extra bits to the magazine, for example the danial radcliff competition, so that people read it, and they would read it because alot of teenagers, in year 7 - 8 like harry potter.

lastly, there are many ways in which i can improve on this, and that is by adding more strap lines and making it more eye catching.

i started to look at actual magazine front covers that were sone my students in the past so now we are going to do one our selves about some thing about the school.

we started to look at magazine front covers, we analysed and anotated a couple of magazines that were done by students in school in the past.

the rule of thirds

we looked at the rule of thirds, it helps us take a good photograph, the positioning of the camera and using different camera effects changes the focal points of an image. as you can see in the image, the rule of thirds is used to draw attention to the focal point of the image. furthermore in this course i will be looking and experimenting with the rule of thirds to see which shot suits which image and what sort of effect i can get on this image. the image below is browsed from google to show and illustrate th effect of the rule of thirds. as you can see from the image below, the main focal point is the image below.

introduction to media studies.

This is my first blog ever! so its my first blog for media studies also! for my media studies i have been comparing two news paper front cover about terrorism. and i really enjoyed that. and i also watched a 'skins' scene and analysed that and came up with a grade C. when i started media, the class looked at representation, so therefore we looked at two news paper front covers that looked at terrorism and how terrorists were presented in the news papers, further more we also looked at the differences and the similarities between the two news paper front covers and how each company presents the two same stories in a different way, furthermore i did a essay on it and i found out what the similarities and the differences were.
